FINAL SNEAK PEEK - YOU'LL NEVER LOVE ME
Hey, beauty. Tomorrow, ASH LEY returns with You’ll Never Love Me. Here’s a sneak peek!
“I’m pregnant.”
His face softened, eyes widened as he matched my stare. When I didn’t say anything else, letting it be known I was serious, he nodded his head up and down. His arm that was draped over my shoulder was drawn back so he could use his hand to massage his chin.
“For real?”
“For real.”
“That’s cool. Congratulations, I guess.”
It was now me looking confused. Out of anything he could’ve possibly said or asked, he chose congratulations? Was he really that shocked? The more I looked at him, and watched his hand run down his face, I realized the comment was a result of us not being on the same page.
“It’s your baby, Marcus. You do know that. Right?”
“Psh.”
I frowned from what I knew to be his denial. I didn’t know what the hell to expect but it certainly wasn’t this.
“I’m serious. You’re the only man I’ve been with like that and you know we didn’t use a condom that last time.”
“Yeah, alright. I haven’t even touched you in…”
“Eleven weeks, five days. Do the math.”
He exhaled deeply. With the lines forming in his forehead, I knew he was doing as he was told. I reached into my phone case, retrieving one of the sonogram photos so he could look at it. He not only swatted my hand away, he stood to his feet, leaving me to sit alone. I sat the photo on his coffee table and approached him.
“I know we didn’t really plan for this, but…”
“You’re right. We didn’t. So what are you about to do about it because I’m still not convinced it’s even mine.”
“What?”
“How do I know you’re not lying? You tell me you feeling me, we don’t talk for a while and you just show up pregnant like I’m supposed to believe that shit. I mean, you gave that shit up in the front seat of my car. How do I know I’m the only dude you…”
Before he could even get the rest of the sentence out, my hand went across his face with such force it sent his head flying back. I shouldn’t have put my hands on him, and I probably should’ve apologized but I wasn’t giving him one. It’s one thing to deny the baby but it was another for him to try insulting me like I sold him my ass off the street corner.
