“So, have you gone on your first date yet?” she asked while kicking her heels off and picking up one of the loose basketballs rolling around. 

The look of her in that outfit made it far more difficult to listen to what she was saying, even as she did something as simple as picking up a basketball to throw it around. 

“I actually have my date for tonight according to Shauna, let me guess you already had yours?” I asked as she began bouncing the ball making her way over to the free throw line.  

“Yeah, and I made a complete fool of myself Brent. He was like one of those pretty boys who you could just see was a fuck boy from a mile away. So, I just got my shit together and left. Why can’t it just be simple, I get around the guy I’m supposed to be with, and everything just feels as natural as you and me,” she stated bending her knees and releasing the ball from her fingertips at the right moment. 

 The only sounds vibrating off the walls was the sound of the ball swishing through the hoop. The minute the ball went through the hoop she jumped up and down forgetting the conversation we were having over the excitement of making it. I shook my head because this was one of the things I loved about her, she could go from one subject to another without missing a step. 

“Damn, you didn’t take it easy on him, did you?” I asked with a laugh because Mercy had to be the bluntest person I knew.  

“You know I didn’t. I don’t have time to waste, especially after Parker’s no-good ass used up quite a good bit of it. I really don’t think it is that hard to love someone and be faithful especially when they are always there when you need them,” she responded walking back from the rim with the basketball in her hands. 

“I can agree with that, but not every man you come across will be able to recognize the beauty in a woman that was not made for him. Trust me Merc, the man who was made for you will treat you like the queen you are and recognize you as such. Stop worrying so much, how do you know the man you’re supposed to be with isn't right in front of you but you’re overlooking him? Just let it flow.” I walked up and placed my arm around her shoulder pulling her into my body.  

I felt her arms wrap around my waist, without another word silence was okay in this moment because I knew she understood. Even if she didn’t want to understand but I just hoped she realized real soon that the right man for her had been here all along. One of these days I'm going to tell her how I feel. I don’t know how many more of these damn date stories I can take.  

"I hear you Brent I will keep that in mind, but anyway, I don’t feel like being home today. Plus, my brothers have been coming over every damn day since that situation with Parker and the bar.  I don’t feel like being aggravated today, you down to see a movie? You know Aquamanis out and we have been waiting to see that movie.”  

“Of course, let me go home and get in the shower. You can come to my house if you would like. It won't take me too long to get ready,” I responded.

“Sounds good to me! I'll go by the movie theater to get our seats, then I will meet you at your house if you're not dressed already,” she added with a bright smile while walking over to put her shoes back on.

I needed all the prayer in the world to make it through all of these damn dates.
