Indigo
Mary was moving Taj closer to Indie with her dance moves. The more Taj danced the more her wall was dropped and her hair was falling down. Indie couldn’t help but smile at the way Taj’s eyes lit up when she found her groove. It didn’t take Mary long before accidentally bumping into Indie.
“Oh, I’m sorry, Indie,” Mary apologized breathlessly finally putting a pause to her dancing. “I didn’t see you there.”
Indie chuckled knowing that Mary meant to do it. “It’s all good Ms. Mary. I know short people don’t normally look up.”
“And giants normally don’t look down,” Mary shot back after taking a moment to breathe. “You look nice, though.”
“He cleans up nice,” Diane replied with a smile fixing the lapels on Indigo’s suit jacket before laying her eyes on Taj. “Taj you look beautiful.”
Taj’s eyes met with Indie’s and didn’t break away. Even though he was sure she wanted to pull them away. His heart fluttered like it was the first time he laid eyes on her.
“Diane, I’m too old to be out here shaking my ass with these kids,” Mary spoke up watching Indie and Taj become entranced with one another. “Let’s get a drink and let these two have a moment.”
Diane released Indie and he didn’t even notice that she’d stepped away from him. Everyone in the room had disappeared.
“Hi,” Taj finally spoke up. “I’m going to go…”
Indie knew that she didn’t want to go and he wasn’t in the mood to prolong this anymore. She started to walk away but Indie caught her hand and pulled her back. Taj didn’t fight him which surprised him. But he knew that at any moment she could pull away and leave the party so he was going to make this moment last as long as he could. Her body melted into his as they swayed back and forth to the music. No one initiated the movement, it just happened like their bodies were still in sync with each other. Her scent took over his nostrils making his grip tighten. He craned her neck down to press his lips against her ear and mutter, “I’m sorry.”
Taj pulled away from him slightly and looked at him with tears cradled in the brim of her eyes. He could sense the fear that she tried to hide behind her wall but he could see it and feel it.
“I don’t want to do this here,” she muttered trying to hold herself together. “Not right now. I’m not going to ruin their day.”
“Then when?” Indie asked studying every line on her face.
“Later..."
