Void - Sneak Peek!
On November 2nd, Kaye Lovett debuts her first BLP release and she has a special sneak peek for you to read below.
“It’s late. Has Warren not come home yet?”
“No.” He tried not to say it in a dark tone but failed. He told himself not to get upset, and that it was Taylor’s problem to deal with Warren, but it was hard to ignore the way he treated her. She deserved so much more.
Keith cleared his throat and turned to her with a plate in his hand. “Come and eat.”
He sat her plate on the bar area of the island and she climbed up onto the bar stool and started digging in her food. He knew she was famished. “Mmm. This is good!”
“Well, thank you.” He said as he started putting the rest of the food away and cleaning the counters.
“You didn’t have to do this.” Taylor said in between bites of food.
“It was your first day and I knew the last thing you would want to do is cook so...” He shrugged. “It’s not a big deal.”
Silence fell over them as he finished cleaning up and she finished her food. She slid around the island and washed her plate before throwing it in the dishwasher with the rest of the dishes and turned it on.
“Once again, thank you, Keith. My feet are killing me. I know I wouldn’t have been able to cook anything tonight.”
“Go sit down on the stool.”
“What?”
Instead of repeating himself, he hoisted her up on the island and reached down to take her shoes off.
“Whoa, what are you doing?”
“Let me help you. Today was your first day back and your body is adjusting. I’m not here just for the kids. I’m here for you too. Stay.” He turned around to the cabinets and started searching for an item he saw earlier.
He grabbed the coconut oil and a paper cup. He took a spoon and dug a healthy scoop out and dropped it in the cup. He repeated that once more before placing it back in the cabinet.
He moved back to Taylor and took some oil from the cup and rubbed it in his hands, causing the oil to melt. He grabbed her leg and went to work massaging her foot.
“Oh my God, that feels like heaven.” She moaned as she threw her head back. Keith drank in her appearance, and he loved what he saw. She wasn’t looking like a sexy supermodel but a beautiful, hardworking woman who deserved to come home to this and more every night.
“You deserve this, Taylor. Just relax.”
His words had the complete opposite effect on her. She yanked her foot away.
“You should head home, it’s getting late.”
“Taylor...”
“No. You don’t get to do this for me. It’s my...”
“Husband’s job?” Keith watched her face drop.
“Yes, my husband’s job.” She straightened. “You are here just for the kids, Keith. Remember that.”
He nodded. He knew she wasn’t ready to face the fact that her husband wasn’t shit, and he would not push the issue.
He grabbed his keys, then came and kissed her on the cheek before he was out the door.
