FINAL SNEAK PEEK - QUEENDOM: A Collection of Poetry
Hey, beauty! Here’s one last look into Queendom: A Collection of Poetry by Aubreé Pynn before it goes live tomorrow!
Sneak Peek
Darkie Felder
This crown that sits in my coils, sometimes presses against my flesh
Cutting my flesh made of the richest of melanin and making my power coated with crimson drip down
The power that was passed down from my mama…Castran
Who was given it from Agnes
Who got it from Lisher
Who got it from her mama … Darkie
Who got it from her mama … a queen enslaved
All the way back to Aminatu
I assume
This crown that sits on top of my head is heavy
It carries the spirit of my lineage
For every shackled queen
To every beaten princess
The blood that drips holds power
It’s majestic
It transcends from one empire to another
This crown represents my home
Where my soul was born
Before the shackles, the chains and the unrested spirits in the Atlantic
This crown is ...
Aminatu. Nandi. Ranavalona. Makeba. Candice. Yaa Asantewa.
Connected to all by the crimson that trickles from my richness
Because the crown that sits in my coils is heavy … my ancestors are forged in its gold.
We hope you’re ready! Thanks for the continued support.
